About SkyTeam
SkyTeam was founded on June 22, 2000, by four airlines: Aeroméxico, Air France, Delta Air Lines, and Korean Air. The alliance was created to provide extensive global reach and seamless travel experiences through collaboration among member airlines. Alitalia joined in 2001, followed by Czech Airlines in 2001. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines joined in 2004 after merging with Air France. The alliance continued to grow, with China Southern Airlines joining in 2007 and Aeroflot in 2006, among others.
SkyTeam's primary focus is on enhancing customer service by offering a smooth travel experience across member airlines. This includes coordinated schedules, shared facilities at airports, and standardized services.
As of 2024, SkyTeam has 19 full member airlines, connecting passengers across an extensive global network to over 1,050 destinations in 166 countries.
