Globally connected - SAS and Volvo Ocean Race
First ever marketing cooperation between SAS and Volvo.SAS and Volvo have entered a co-operation in connection with the Volvo Ocean Race 2005-2006, the first of its kind between the two companies. It is a marketing partnership agreement between SAS and Volvo Ocean Race based on common value ground. SAS is entitled to utilize the Volvo Ocean Race as a marketing theme for the duration of the race. In return SAS utilizes its marketing channels to promote the Volvo Ocean Race to its customers, thereby actively supporting the marketing of the race.
SAS and Volvo are two Scandinavian companies with a great deal in common, such as safety, quality and innovation. Both companies are recognized globally and have the world as their market and have customers with an active lifestyle. The Volvo Ocean Race offers great opportunities for SAS to bring unique travel packages to our customers for visiting the race and to follow the extreme ocean race via Internet onboard SAS long haul flights and lounges.
Volvo Ocean Race stands for innovation and advanced engineering. SAS use of leading edge technology spans more than half a century, from pioneering Polar navigation in the 1950s to the recent introduction of the wireless high-speed Internet service onboard, known as SAS Net Access.
In conjunction with Volvo Ocean Race SAS will promote the new lie-flat Business Class seat that will be installed during 2006 on all SAS intercontinental aircraft. SAS Inflight Entertainment Systems will also give the passengers the possibility to follow the race, on the 10,4 inch individual screens. As a visual sign of the marketing partnership SAS Airbus A330/A340 will appear with the Volvo Ocean Race logotype.
