New Nordic by SAS ranks high in the Monocle Travel Top 50
The ‘New Nordic by SAS’ food concept, prepared with the focus on seasonal and locally produced high quality raw ingredients from small producers, has been named among the best initiative in the travel industry in the Monocle Magazine Travel Top 50, 2018/2019 survey.
Monocle Magazine has crowned the SAS concept “Best in-flight meal packaging” and in particular praise the seasonally based and locally sourced raw ingredients, the functionality and innovative design of the SAS Cube that the meals are served in, and not least the unique filled chocolates. The New Nordic by SAS food concept is ranked 16th in the Travel Top 50 for 2018/2019.
“Every day, thousands of SAS employees provide passengers with service and a top class travel experience. They are the reason why we achieve such wonderful results and this excellent ranking also shows that our initiatives and efforts to develop products and services for the modern traveler are correct,” says Karl Sandlund, Executive Vice President Commercial at SAS.
Renowned lifestyle and travel journal Monocle Magazine’s annual Travel Top 50 introduces readers to the world’s best hoteliers, airlines, airport operators and chefs. All of them are characterized as the best initiatives and products within the travel industry based on quality and innovation.
New Nordic by SAS raises taste experiences onboard the airline to new heights. The menus feature Scandinavian specialties with a twist, and when possible, are based on organic raw materials and sustainable fish and shellfish.
“The competition is tough in the airline and travel industry, where both large and small companies are constantly introducing innovative and fantastic new products. That SAS has been ranked 16th by Monocle Magazine, the experts in developments in the industry, is a great honor,” says Sandlund.
New Nordic by SAS will be served on over 80,000 flights this year. The menu is included for SAS Plus passengers on short haul flights of 80 minutes or more. SAS Go passengers on Scandinavian and European flights over 80 minutes, can pre-order the menu.
