SAS achieves landmark IATA IEnvA assessment certification
SAS has received official approval of its IEnvA Assessment Report, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
As the aviation industry faces growing concerns regarding its environmental footprint, SAS leads in sustainable practices, continuously updating its Environmental Management System to align with industry standards. This achievement not only highlights SAS leadership in environmental stewardship but also serves as a model for others in the industry.
“SAS is the first airline within the SkyTeam alliance to receive the IATA IEnvA Assessment Program Certification. Not only that, but we're also the only airline to score this certification across all three Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) – covering everything from flight and ground ops to cargo, products, and services. This accomplishment isn't just about meeting the ISO 14001 standards: it’s about going above and beyond with IATA’s rigorous and aviation specific IEnvA criteria. We are excited to celebrate this milestone and e even more driven to keep redefining the limits for a sustainable future in aviation.” says Ann-Sofie Hörlin, Head of Sustainability at SAS.
The IEnvA standard builds on ISO 14001, maintaining its stringency while incorporating additional, aviation-specific requirements from IATA. Recognized by top ESG rating agencies like Sustainable Fitch, S&P Global, EcoVadis, and SGS, it provides a robust framework for environmental management in the aviation sector.
SAS has achieved certificate across the following activities:
-
