SAS CONTINUES DOMESTIC EXPANSION WITH ROUTES TO HALMSTAD AND KALMAR
As part of SAS' investment in Swedish domestic network, routes between Arlanda and Halmstad City Airport, as well as Arlanda and Kalmar Öland Airport, are launching today. These new services will further enhance accessibility in Sweden, from north to south.
SAS remains committed to connecting Sweden through a continued expansion of its domestic network. Linking Arlanda with both Halmstad and Kalmar will improve accessibility across Sweden.
”We are very pleased to begin operations to Halmstad and Kalmar, as this is a natural step in SAS' long-term commitment to enhancing travel options within Sweden and internationally. Strong connections for both leisure and business travelers are a win for the entire country, playing a crucial role in boosting the Swedish economy across multiple sectors," says Edward Fotheringham, Vice President Global Sales at SAS.
With Arlanda serving as the central hub for Swedish domestic traffic, seamless access is created from the north to the south, as well as further abroad. In addition to Arlanda's extensive network, there are also frequent and smooth connections to SAS' vast global network in Copenhagen.
The Halmstad region is recognized as a key center for business development in southwestern Sweden. The city’s beautiful coastline and vibrant cultural scene also make it a popular destination for tourists.
”The air link between Halmstad and Stockholm is a vital part of Sweden's infrastructure. Not only does it facilitate business, government presence, and regional development, but it also plays a crucial role in our defense and societal preparedness," says Anders Thornberg, Governor of Halland County.
Kalmar and its surrounding region have a thriving entrepreneurial spirit and rich business community. Renowned for its historical landmarks and natural beauty, Kalmar and the island of Öland attract visitors from near and far.
”It’s highly positive that SAS is now operating the route to Kalmar with Arlanda as the hub. Moving forward, it is essential that we all capitalize on the increased accessibility provided by SAS' investment, which is fundamental to the region’s growth,” says Ronny Lindberg, CEO at Kalmar Öland Airport.
SAS’ domestic network has expanded significantly since the beginning of the year. This growth includes not only the launch of the routes to Halmstad and Kalmar, but also to Sälen, along with increased frequencies on established routes. A key factor in this expansion is Braathens Airways AB (BRA), now being a subcontractor for SAS.
SAS looks forward to welcoming onboard new and returning passengers.
